"Millions Now Living May Never Die" This little re-wording using may instead of will really rubs me the wrong way. Sucks to think how much time soooo many people wasted believing this b.s.
5 said this: "by word or action, may we never challenge the channel of communication that jehovah is using today".. why not?
because if jehovah is using someone, then what they say must be bible-based truth!
are the following statements bible-based truths?

hello, i'm a 17 year old born in and i'm done with this religion.
one hundred percent.
i came to the conclusion a year ago that i wanted to leave.
Bring up your questions during the studies that way when you're asked why haven't you or when are you going to do such and such you can always reply, "Well there are still some things I'm not too sure about and need clarification before I take those steps."
I agree with everyone else, at least if you're not baptized you won't lose your family.
i've read the sarcastic short stories about it, but seriously, i'm stumped.. after armageddon, what then?
yeah, i know they'll bury our bodies or cart them off to be burned, but then the earth will become paradise and then what??
seriously, what do they (the leaders) do to remain relevant?.
Here are my thoughts: 1. Homes will be handed off according to field service time. 2. Those brazen apostates will be eaten by the birds- for all to see! 3. All the cliques and hate existent in the congregations prior to the end will magically disappear. 4. Anybody who went to college will get a stern talking to for not having their "priorities" straight. And an "I told you so!" 5. Lastly, all those lucky enough to have slid in will be handsomely compensated for their loyal service by enjoying 1000 years of manual labor, picnics, soccer, flute playing, skipping, and non-lethal bear wrestling. The End.
i was reading an article where it said that weeding rings and the brides vail come from pagan origins,... who have any more?,please post.
I was in Spanish for many years and I do know of Piñata busting even though there's an Awake that talks about its pagan origin.
This is the article: g03 22/9 22-24
i am so nervous and waited for long to speak to someone on my faiths and beliefs!
i am from a non-christian background, a hindu.
i got to know 'the truth' (or myth) from my hubby while we were working.
" Elders were notified when my study conductor saw my photo along with these and just 1 day before the wedding they had a meeting, already discussed among themselves to Dis-fellowship all of us."
Yeah that sounds like a typical group of elders hard at work on punishing and slow to see what's really going on. I'm sorry you're having a hard time but I can share that you will feel better when you're far away. That feeling of being a hyrpocrite, you aren't the only one- you and I felt this way as we knew our heart was not 100% behind the organization.
It's hard to preach love and forgiveness when your religion doesn't practice it. Makes me think a lot about what Jesus said at Mat 15:1-9, funny how the WT's human made traditions are valid in God's eyes when Jesus himself condemned the Pharisees for doing exactly the same thing.
Make the change your mind demands and leave this place in your rearview. All the best,
it's a well known phenomenon i've observed from jwn, my own cos. a new co we had once who was fresh from being a normal elder and after a couple of visits he said, "well i've finally become a true co...i now have food intolerances.".
i mean, only once did my husband and i ever have a co around for dinner and they couldn't eat this, he couldn't eat that, she couldn't eat this...it was so hard to cook something with none of the zillions of things they were 'allergic' to.. and then after all that the wife couldn't come anyway because she had a naturopath appointment or something.. why do all co's seem to have weird dietary problems?.
.
"Why do all CO's seem to have weird dietary problems?"
Because they're "special." I second XBEHERE'S comment.
i like the "sudductive woman with long dark hair", for one.
very funny pictures..
All worldly women at work are sultry seducers trying to get in your pants. Unfortunately I never ran across one female co-worker that fit the description
i am durden.. a teenager that is an unbaptized publisher and is trying to leave this damn cult !!!.
i have been lurking here for some time and i decided to start posting with this intro.. im from europe, both my parents are jw's, my parents are both teachers (math teachers).. my parents are "softcore" jw's, they accept all my questions and try to answer them.. i am trying to "convert" my dad (an elder which might complicate things), me and my dad recently had various discussions about the org ("discussions" on the good sense of the word).. we talked about jehovah in the nt, 1975, 1914, gb in 1st century, the cross, "new lights" ..., you know the usual stuff.. and all is going well i think, i think i can "convert" him until the end of summer.. i mean is a logical man, what can go wrong ?
man, when i found jwfacts it was like my world had collapsed, all thoses lies .... but its good now to have found the truth.
Welcome Durden, I would like to commend you for having the courage to seek out real truth but also maybe advise that you don't want to "convert" him as much as any of us didn't like our conversion into the witness faith.
I would suggest that you always ask a question and have another one loaded for after he gives his answer. Be logical and seek only to reason, nothing more....
For example:
YOU: Issue with 1975
DAD: Well GB/Slave class are imperfect they received new light and the matter was corrected.
You: But why would God inspire them to print that information? Is that not wrong to play with people's lives that way, a tease almost?
Dad: The GB are imperfect men.
You: God is perfect and mistakes are not of his nature- how then would he inspire his chosen people to believe and preach an end that he knew well was not coming? You can maybe use Matthew 24:36- how come that didn't apply to 1975?

Hope I've been of a little help- just question bombard, the rest will happen with time. All the best,
barbershop harmony singing groups!
i've enjoyed that type of music since i first heard it as a kid.
just today ran onto a local group that welcomes visitors.
So many women. So little time!
Happy to know you can actually live without the guilt trips Iownmylife.
this is my opinion, i don't have official quotes or official instructions to back this up.
what i have is real life experience of having been an elder that was involved in investigating an allegation of child abuse, why we didn't report, why we didn't encourage the parents to report.. its simple really, the main reason elders don't report is concern that they may lose their position in the congregation.
if you in any way "run ahead" of the society, you will be perceived as proud and arrogant and will be deleted!
This was the one aspect of TTAT that absolutely killed my faith and trust in the organization. I had always looked at them with such praise and glory, I was definitely one of those stubborn JW's who wouldn't even allow talk of anything that resembled opposition to "Godly Truth" but the facts don't lie and the truth is readily available to any who search.
It's saddening to know that there are bros out there that would rather keep a privilege than help a hurt child. Everytime I heard "elder" I thought of this text:
“Each one must prove to be like a hiding place from the wind and a place of concealment from the rainstorm, like streams of water in a waterless country, like the shadow of a heavy crag in an exhausted land.”—Isaiah 32:2.
It's funny that when push comes to shove all of that protection goes out the window. Thanks jeremiah for sharing with us- if only more people felt the way you did in handling the situation.
You know the sickening thing is that if a JW reads this they will just say more lies.
